Bio

Axelle Boréalis evolves in a mystical, dreamlike and spiritual universe.

Since childhood, she has been painting, exploring the subtle worlds that inhabit her dreams and notebooks. Born in 1976 on the Atlantic coast, she began her artistic career at the age of 18, combining painting and live performances in the world of electronic music in Nantes. Her first exhibitions, starting in 1996, revealed a symbolic language populated by characters and forms drawn from her visions.

Self-taught, Axelle enriched her practice through body painting and character creation, before turning professional in 2004 as an artistic make-up artist and decorative painter. She has collaborated with prestigious venues and artists, including the Paris Opera, Thierry Mugler and The Gorillaz.

In 2013, she chose to devote herself fully to her artistic practice and became interested in the subtle effects of her paintings: their ability to act on inner frequency, to support alignment and calm.

Attracted by the essence of places and their design, Axelle developed a broader vision for the dissemination of her art, ranging from intimate spaces to large-scale venues.

Her latest exhibitions include ‘Les Mondes Subtils’ at the Parc Floral de Paris, 2023, and the series ‘Les Maîtres Messagers’ in a group exhibition at Zurich Central Station (2024).

Vibrant art between matter and energy

Axelle Boréalis’ work is an intuitive exploration between the visible and the invisible.

Her acrylic paintings, guided by her visions, vibrate with deep pigments and intense colours — blues, raw earth tones, gold pigments — that capture the eye and the mind. She practises automatic painting, allowing shapes, symbols and colours to emerge without mental control, like messages waiting to be revealed.

Her rich universe, a combination of modern societies and ancestral knowledge, is expressed through several emblematic series: Les Mondes Subtils (The Subtle Worlds), Les Maîtres Messagers (The Master Messengers), Les Multivers (The Multiverses), Les Encres de la terre (The Inks of the Earth), as well as Osmose (Osmosis), her series of body painting integrated into her large canvases. Finally, her live artistic performances and immersive exhibitions invite viewers on a meditative journey into the heart of her worlds.

Each work becomes a gateway to different dimensions of the human experience, a sensory journey combining power, wisdom and connection to nature.
